My 10 favorite clothing pieces for spring and summer cruising!

Ya’ll, I have been on a shopping kick lately because this season seems to be bringing a ton of cute plus size stuff at lots of different stores. I know how hard it is out there for us curvy guys, gals, and non-binary pals. So hopefully this helps you out at least a little. This post will specifically call out what I like to wear but stay tuned for another post highlighting what my hubby likes!

For visibility, I usually wear a 2x at most stores, between a 20-22. The main stores I usually stick to are Old Navy, Target, and Hot topic (surprising, I know!). I will size up at Hot Topic just because I know that store isn’t geared towards plus size people, but they have a lot of cute options.

I do occasionally shop at Torrid and Lane Bryant, but it is rare now a days as they have become less reasonably priced and their styles haven’t changed much. I’m going to link a few of my favorite items that I’ve grabbed for this spring. I am not affiliated with any of these stores in any way, these are just my favs.

  1. Any Tiered Dress

I love a tiered dress and this one is flowy and comfortable. Bonus, it has pockets!! My favorite ones come from Old Navy. They always have sleeveless and sleeved options.

2. Black Empire Dress Plus Size

I just bought this dress for a night out, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s super soft and very flattering. Good job, Hot Topic! (I sized up to a 3 here)

(It’s also available in pink: https://tinyurl.com/6tadm7zz)

3. A romper!

Now I am NOT a romper person but I couldn’t resist this one. I loved the wrap around in the front, and it’s available in black. I did purchase the bright one and mostly used it as a swim cover. It was extremely loose and comfortable.

4. A cross-body bag

As you can tell from my photos, I’m a fan of this cross-body bag. It’s versatile, holds way more than you think it does, and is secure. I carried it everywhere!

5. Classic White Denim Jacket

I love pairing a white denim jacket with my light colored sundresses, I think it offsets it really nicely. A denim jacket is a staple in my opinion, whether it’s black, white, or blue.

6. A sleeveless top

I know this is vague, but this is based on your comfort level. I love the tiered tops from Old Navy that are sleeveless, because they’re so comfortable!

7.

A swim-dress

I actually have a few different types of swimsuits including swim-dresses, and this one is one of my favs. It has a little skirt for modesty and it’s blue! The link here is actually to my other favorite one which is a full swimdress.

(Thanks to my hubby for this picture, I would never post a swim pic but he got one I actually liked)

8. Mid-Rise Jean Shorts or Bermuda Shorts

https://tinyurl.com/4pa8en6u

I love a capri/bermuda jean short. They’re comfy and I can pair them with a nice flowy top or tee shirt and sandals. They also cover most of the top half of my legs, which I prefer. If you prefer a shorter short, go for it! Comfort is key.

(Yes I’m shamelessly using a previous picture for this)

9. Shape wear Shorts

I always wear shorts under my dresses and skirts because it’s comfortable, and prevents chub rub. My new favorite ones are from shapermint, because they are high wasted and lined with the silicone strips so no rolling! They worked really well for me, I got the xl/2xl.

10. New Balance Women's 608 V5 Cross Trainer

(This one is also an affiliate link)

Now we all know a good shoe is important, especially if you’re walking around the ship or on an excursion. I’ve spent my whole life buying cheap shoes that hurt my feet, or converse that are completely flat. Do not skimp on shoes! Your feet will thank you!! I sized up a half size and they fit beautifully and are SO comfortable. Thanks to my brother and sister in law (Thank you A&B), I have found my shoe. Go forth and find YOUR shoe.

Because most of our cruises have been to warmer climate areas, this post is geared specifically towards those types of cruises. I do hope this gives you an idea of what kind of clothing you’ll want to think about taking on your next summery cruise. If you like this post, you’ll love our videos!
